Inserting a Link in a forum is a good idea forum links helps you to increase site trafiic and also count as a backlink. After penguine update people is not using forum posting because they think if they insert link in a forum than its not good for site and google will consider this as a spam technique and they are right its a spam technique. . Inserting link in a forum is a good idea but it depends how you will add that link, if you will insert in signature and add that signature in sensible way than its good, it will not count as a spam technique. after last update google is very strict about links and if we add link like a professionals than its good for site but if we add like spammers than its very harmful for our site.
